Though it was recorded in Nashville with Lambchop's producer Mark Nevers, Euros Childs insists that his fourth solo album is not a country record. And he's right. As sweet as these songs are, there is nothing sonically to greatly distinguish this album from the last - the plinky, school assembly-style piano that featured so heavily on Childs's previous solo outing remains. So, while there are glimpses of real loveliness on the record, one can't help but wonder how it would have sounded if Childs had set out to make a country album, or pursued the experimental routes promised on his debut.
